Goal Setting with a Positive Outcome

To be succesfull in achieving anything you need to have a well formed outcome in place. "If you don't know where you are going, you'll end up somewhere else". Many people set goals for various things like running marathons, saving money for a property or even performance based at work, however not many set goals for their everyday life. Whatever it is you want to achieve, you must have a goal in place to help you achieve it. Goal setting is an extremely powerfully process and helps you map out your ideal future. By setting stretching but realistic goals you can push yourself and motivate yourself by turning this goal into a reality. In this article you will look at various types of goals stretching through all areas of your life. This is important to find the exact balance for you to live a fulfilled life. Many people have set financial goals and achieved but fail to achieve in other area's of their life. There are lots of lonely, unhappy rich people in the world. What good is all the money in the world if you are miserable  In my next blog we will also look at a few goal setting models one called SYDER, this is an NLP coaching model used for achieving excellence. The other is the more common model named as SMART, we will also look at how you can take a SMART goal and make it SMARTER.

  • Financial Goals
What am i saving for? Why am i not saving? Where does all my money go? Are these questions you feel asking yourself? When are you planning your retirement, what kind of house you want to live in, what kind of car you want to drive, where you want to go for holiday, what do you have in place if the worst was to happen, do you want your kids to get a better education, do you want a second home? Depending on your financial position will give you different goals and aspirations here.
  • Physical Appearance/Ability Goals
Want to improve your physical appearance, do you want to get stronger, fitter, faster, what do you want to achieve, how long do you want to achieve this, do have a specific weight goal? These goals relate to your physical well being, setting these goals will help you lead a healthier life. If you have a specific weight goal, or improve your physical condition and health in some way, you will need to set these goals.
  • Enjoyment Goals
Set goals where it is something that you enjoy. Do you want to learn a new skill, Do you wish to play a musical instrument? These goals will be set for entertainment, learning new skills/abilities or for taking up new hobbies.
  • Career Goals
Where do you want to be in your career five years from now, ten years from? twenty? In what position you see yourself and what you will do to reach there, what kind of value addition you will do to your skills, both hard and soft, will fall under career goals.
  • Self Development
As long as you are learning new skills your body and mind will keep growing, as soon as you stop learning you become unfulfilled. Keep growing by setting goals to learn new skills, become more religious, help someone achieve their goals. If you are more spiritual you will enjoy better relationships, financial success better and a more fulfilling self image as you have stronger faith. Spiritual goals are an important purpose of all life and you should definitely set goals in this area of self development.
  • Relationships & Family
There will be no one more important to you in your life than your Relationships and Family. Have you lost touch with your best friend, or have created new connections with new people? What can you help out with your partner, children, parents, greater family, to strengthen the relationship you have with them? It is worth it to set goals in this area to have a fulfilled life.
  • Social Goals
You will find that your achievements can be judged on what you do for the society rather than on your personal achievements. You may feel that it is your duty to give back more than what you receive. Any goals that you set for this purpose are Social Goals.
Have a think about these different goal types and see if there is any that you can associate too. My next blog will help you set yourself a goal to achieve it. It will put you in the position of having achieved the goal. What had to be in place immediately before to allow your goal to happen? And what had to be in place before that? Continue all the way back to the very first step.

Thanks for reading and take care.

Thanks and Regard.
